The Birds of Passion

A primer in serum girl training

For that reason, all the pleasure slaves depicted below, either in display or training, may be assumed to be transformed males.)

The slave-training methods of Zhor are very old and have been shared across the length and breadth of the planet and have been shared between different cultures for centuries. By the time of the creation of the "serum girls," the slave-conditioning techniques had reached an admirable state of sophistication and need very little change to accommodate the new type of slave.

The main differences between the serum girl and the woman-born are the promiscuous, male-intensity sex drive of the former, and also the drives of the natural slave that are imposed on the serum girl by Ruk's Serum. The term "serum girl," by the way, is always used in the Rhinfrew language to denote a formerly male slave. A woman-born slave is more frequently known as an "enhanced" slave. While the serum can physically transform a woman-born into a new shape, i.e. an enhanced slave, and also induce a genetically-derived natural slavery (which drive exists naturally in the DNA matter of women-born, but never in males) it cannot induce into her psyche the compulsive eroticism for which the serum girl is reknowned. The promiscuous sex drive of so celebrated in the serum girl is no more than the male-intensity drive that Ruk's Serum redirects down the paths of female heterosexuality.

Beyond this, new serum girls confronted by coercion, tend to fall back on masculine bellicosity. The trainer of a raw serum girl must be prepared to meet and overcome a stubborn defiance of a kind that they seldom encounter in women-born.

Many methods have been developed to tame serum girls (NOTE: all legal slaves on Zhor are female; no civilized culture permits the enslavement of males, as the laws of the mysterious Overlords forbid it. Interestingly, the Overlords seem not to object to the transformation of a male into a female, even if it is followed by enslavement.) The oldest methods for taming the ill nature of serum girls are special cuffing devices, such as the elbow cuff shown here, and the sphere gag. A girl given to railing at and insulting her trainers will not be allowed to speak at all. Another antique device for punishing recalcitrant slaves is the stocks, shown right. Sometimes the punishment can be very simple and require no costly equipment. The serum girl on the left is being lightly punished for a minor infraction. She must stand bound to a tree and endure the discomfort of the position and the attacks of insects all night. A master who wishes to feast his eyes on a slave's beauty while she endures punishment might cause her to be put in the neck-and-cuff device, shown in the center. A girl who draws more serious discipline might be bound in a ingenious way, the cleverness of the tie determining how much she will suffer. When the bound slave begs to be forgiven and pledges better behavior, she may be released. Or not, since there is no stima atached to a master if he decides to be harsh. Horizontal restraint is also popular. The serum girl on the left has been caged in order to learn that a pleasure slave is no more than a pretty animal who must conduct herself like a tame pet. The defiant ex-soldier on the right has been constrained to impress upon her a slave's helplessness, and must remain in such a position as long as her master pleases. If a slave is so bound in public, custom allows passersby to fondle her, and in this way she learns to accept the bawdiest and most forward attentions offered to her by free persons.
The simplest material can provide a slave with a chastening punishment binding. This girl, bound and foot like a vorloc beast for branding, learns much from a night of restraint on a cold floor. Likewise, the forest girl who has defied the cunning hunter who has just enslaved her begins to learn submission in a tie of simple rope.

Discipline wisely applied can make a raw girl into an excellent slave. Teva, once a barrister of Gairbith, for too long verbally and physically resisted her lash-slave. For this reason she was for a month gagged and constrained for punishment after each training session. Although once a pleasure slave owner "himself," Teva learned her lesson well and was ignited after only a few weeks of training. Soon she was into a bawdy tavern of the type that she liked to patronize as a male. It is said that the cup girl Teva commonly takes over a dozen men to the silks every night and is able to satisfy each of them so quickly that the other carousers whom she serves waljan wine in the main room but rarely take note of her brief absences. Trainers are not surprised by such anecdotes. They tell us that the sluttishness and slave-need that smolders in the heart and loins even the most unpromising serum girl will eventually find release and make her a lusty little pleasure-giver.

Besides love-making and obedience, there are many other modes of behavior that slaves must learn. Thus it was that two friends from the same elite military unit who failed to please were bound side by side. The trainer told them that the first to pledge unconditional submission would be released, while the other would suffer a long punishment. Soon after, one of the two cried out in surrender and won reprieve. The other felt betrayed, but learned that true trust cannot exist among slaves and this changed her way of thinking. Unsurprisingly, it was the betrayed one who ignited first in subsequent training.

One of the discipline devices used to better a slave's attitude is the bachgyn, the "nipple biter." The girl on the right had been the male heir of a great house and was captured while adventuring at sea. Being proud and stubborn, she refused even to strip for training. Her trainer did not deign to force-strip her, but instead gave her the bachgyn to wear. The device hurt more the longer they were left attached, until the slave begged imploringly to be permitted to strip for her masters.

Later on, this same slave, now called Ilka, would yield to the most lascivious commands rather than wear the biters again. She became one of the best slave-trainees in the House of Amhar and fetched a fine price as a silk slave. So effective are the biters for sweetening a slave's bad temper that they are often the discipline of first resort and very many serum girls have become docile with surprising rapidity after experiencing them.

Tools such as the biters do not represent the cruelty of Zhor's slave trainers, but their kindness. Oftentimes a new serum girl is too ignorant to appreciate the compassion of her trainers and rages at them for their supposed harshness.

Woe upon the foolish girl who exhausts her trainer's patience. If she does, she may feel what a good trainer may have so far spared her. He has many means of punishment at his disposal. The whip is a terrible instrument of correction and the Zhorians have many different types, from the light punishment of the "girl-whip," to harsh scourging with heavier lashes. Be assured that the girl who feels even the lightest-weight whip tends to learn her lessons thereafter with greater application. But few slavers liked the lash. Zhorians do not like causing pain and would rather frolic in the silks with tame slaves. An erotic slave is of small value if her spirit is broken by the whip and obeys merely from the fear of torment. Beyond that, a severe whipping will too long incapacitate a slave when she should be training.

Perhaps such considerations inspired the physician Chadwor Gymera when he encountered a common slave girl called Signeer many years ago. Signeer was exceedingly pretty, but she stood out because she was excruciatingly ticklish in the lips of her peren, her clitoris, her breasts, and her navel. Her trainers found that the girl, though strong of will, could be brought to helpless submission simply by the skilled application of a feather. It occurred to the kindly physician Chadwor that if this trait happened to be genetic, it could be passed on to other slave girls and, if it was, they could consequently be spared from harsher punishment, including that of the whip.

So Chadwor took his plan to a great slave house, one which could provide the large capital outlay that experimental research required. After much work, he isolated and cultured the chromosomes responsible for Signeer's ticklishness and made them into a serum.

This was a great breakthrough; any girl who received the serum contracted what was soon called "Signeer's Curse." Trainers were amazed to see its effects upon the most obdurate of slaves. Finding herself driven to abject surrender merely by tickling oftentimes so demoralized a girl or serum girl that she would abandon all further resistance without ever having felt the whip.

Unfortunately, unlike Ruk's Serum, which Vanora had distributed across the face of Zhor at no charge, the slave house for which Chadwor Gymera labored kept a proprietary control over the formula and manufactured and distributed it exclusively. The price remained very high, and relatively few slave houses were willing to pay the premium price to provide it to ordinary slaves. Thus much of the good doctor's motivating aim was defeated by market greed. Nonetheless, as it turn out, the minority of slaves treated with the Curse were much enhanced in value. They came to be called, among other names, "the Birds of Passion," referring to the species that provided the best feathers for tickling, its plumes being stiff and supple.

Other common names for a slave who bears Signeer's Curse is "a perfect slave," "a feather slave," and "a laughing slave."

The physician's paymasters were pleased with Chadwor's Serum. It was marketed as a luxury item to those with special interests or tastes at high prices. Also, it came to be often purchased for use by free women for use on their servant girls as a means of control, or even on themselves a safeguard against ill fortune. This later may sound incredible, but it is true.

Many women fear abduction into slavery and the pain of whipping, even though only about three free women in a hundred are ever enslaved. But if a woman subjects herself to the Affliction of Ticklishness, she can be confident that if the worst happens, a slaver will at least not need to treat her with unnecessary brutality. Such women probably do not realize that to be bound and tickled when subject to the Curse seems as bad as a whipping could be while it is actually going on. Many tickled girls have in fact begged for the whip to be spared the torture of the feather. Even so, given a choice, the girl who has known both the whip and the feather will normally prefer the feather. If the tickling is not so overdone that causes the heart to stop, a punished girl will quickly recover from even the most intense feathering.

Then, too, there is the type of woman who fantasize about being abducted and conquered by a master. Many such dame conceal a secret pleasure to know that if they ever should fall into slavery, they will be known as lowly birds of passion, that they will easily and effortlessly be made to do their master's bidding. Additionally, many such women belong to "slave clubs" and find the idea of being punished with the same intensity as real slave. Many free serum girls, too, suffering from erotic compulsions that are oftentimes more intense than those nurtured by ordinary women, commonly take the serum, and for much the same reasons.

How many formerly-free serum girls, suddenly finding themselves collared, branded, and bound spread-eagle in a training school, have cursed their mistake as experienced trainers have broken their will to resist with no more than the application of a stiff feather? Zhorians seldom punish slaves with calculated cruelty. As the trainers' theory runs, if a slave quickly learns to be pleasing and obedient, it is preferable to treat them as beautiful pets to be fondled and gentled. The most obedient and desirable of slaves is the "natural slave" -- the slave who is driven by internalized compulsions of sex-need and slave-need. Zhorians believed that the traits of a natural slave represents the genetically-defined qualities of the most advanced and evolved type of woman. And because natural slavery is genetic, it can be conveyed to a new subject by Ruk's Serum.

That brings us to the "ignited slave." It is said that not all natural slaves are ignited, but all ignited slaves are natural slaves.

An ignited slave is one who has psychologically yielded to the need for intense sexual activity and slave behavior. Much of the resistance that a girl will initially show to her slavery vanishes totally with her ignition. Usually slavers wish to ignite a new slave as soon as possible, for an ignited slave is cooperative and even eager to please. Such a slave requires less training time and fewer guards. Interestingly, persons who have studied slaves and slavery generally agree that serum girls are the easiest slaves to ignite, for their promiscuous sex-drive augments their natural slavery. That is why serum girls have always been sought out for pleasure slavery in preference to women-born. Like the men they once were, the serum girls still enjoy sex more than women. And, for some reason, the more a woman enjoys sex, the easier it is for her natural slavery to express itself, and for her to achieve ignition.

The general public does not always understand that while Ruk's Serum gives a girl the enhanced potential for the ignition, it does not activate it. To attain ignition in a slave, the slaver subjects his pupil to conditioning and stimuli, primarily by compelling her to experience sexual pleasure. Some serum girls ignite easily, but some ignite only with exasperating difficulty. Some very few never ignite at all. Lucky is the serum girl who comes to ignition in the arms of a lover who loves her in return. Far more often, ignition surprises a girl in the arms of a detached professional trainer. Most trainers feel that their work is done after a slave's ignition and will immediately authorize the slave's sale -- sometimes to a private individual who wishes to adorn his pleasure stables with a willing new beauty, but more often to a brothel, tavern, or alcove-girl master.

Slavers have ways to bring on ignition quickly. Most new serum girls come to slaver school with their female heterosexuality still unawakened or, worse, repressed. Thus the serum girl will initially resist any sexual advances of a trainer, especially if the trainer is male.

Such resistance can meet with punishment, but pleasure training is advanced on Zhor and in most cases a good trainer knows which technique is best to make a serum girl submit without brutality. For many centuries, Zhorian physicians sought a safe and effective aphrodisiac. Eventually a botanical genius discovered one that became a boon to slave trainers everywhere. It came from the plant called "the Passion Blossom," renamed after the discovery of its previously unsuspected properties. Since then it has become a widely planted cash crop.

The low-cost drug made from its juices is called by the learned prynwyn, but is commonly referred to as "passion nectar."

In some manner the passion nectar works upon a woman's endocrine system, stimulating the brain into erotic hyperactivity. The effect of a normal dose lasts for several hours and leaves no harmful side effects.

A woman under the influence of passion nectar, or who is known to be a frequent thrill user as some free women are, is often called a "passion slave" or "passion slut," depending on whether or not she is free. Many a new serum girl brought into a slaver's house is very early on placed administered as series of passion nectar dosages, so that she becomes tormented by intense sexual yearning. This altered emotional state makes a female more vulnerable to the conditioning of a pleasure slave. Passion nectar does not replace the old conditioning techniques, actually, but the drug does allow for much swifter progress toward the desired end while using it.

These erotic conditioning techniques are many. Here we have space to speak only of two, one which is the most basic and one which is more sophisticated. The former is meant for the rapid conditioning of girls as common sluts for quick sale to brothels and taverns of low degree, or into alcove girl stables that are always hungering for fresh meat. The latter technique prepares a girl for sophisticated pleasure giving in private stables or in the silk-girl houses and wine shops of the wealthy.

If a large demand for low-class public slaves needs be met and a large number of slaves are available to fill the need, a slave may be locked away and regularly given strong doses of passion nectar, while remaining bound in a cuff-collar that does not allow sexual relief of any kind. After some days, the trainer may detect in the slave's writhing, her hate-filled glare, or her wild curses, a the body language that tells him that her sexual need has become so great that she must accept any sex that is offered, even from a man.

When that point is reached, the trainer may simply manipulate her with his hands and lips, exciting her craving to an even more unbearable level, and then leave her in unfulfilled misery until his next visit.

Eventually she will beg for sex. Once she does, and if the master wills it, her cuff-collar will be unlocked will be put aside and he will rudely press her back against the couch, there to accept his masterful brolling, and to feel herself filled with his hot, surging balm. If the trainer has not proceeded too hastily up to this point, his exertions may well be rewarded by the cries and shuddering of a new pleasure slave's first orgasm.

One who has betrayed her true nature with slave orgasms seals her fate. Her training usually proceeds with blunt directness. Her attainment of full ignition, though desirable, is not deemed necessary in such a low slave. She need only learn to "fake it" in the brothel, the tavern, or the alcove. The pleasure-girl-in-training is generally put through the basic positions of brolling and the techniques of slave-kissing, but little more time is wasted on her, not if the intention is to hurry her on to sale.

If the slave-to-be is special in some way, however, less direct methods may be employed to bring her into pleasure slavery. Interestingly, professional trainers believe that a man with considerable experience with sophisticated sex becomes the best pleasure slaves. If the right girl is chosen for such training, she might be turned over to a beautiful lash-slave. Using this technique, the lash-slave behaves with the serum-girl in training very much like the slave girls whom the trainee knew as a man. Generally, under the influence of passion nectar, the ex-rake accepts such sexual overtures with eagerness and, in attempting to make love in female shape, gradually learns just how a woman's body gives and receives pleasure. Increasingly, the ex-rake is encouraged to act in the female role, which she soon finds to be pleasing.

Unexpectedly, the lash slave will be replaced by a lash mistress who exudes authority. She generally makes the new slave familiar with the "false scepter," and penetration becomes a daily experience. The lash mistress acts almost wholly in the male role and will permit the slave to act as nothing other than a female. When she believes the time is right, the lash mistress will bring in a male "assistant" to help her training exercises. If the slave protests being touched intimately by a man, she will soon learn that she has no right to protest anything whatsoever.

The aim, of course, is to gradually condition the slave to accept male sexual domination. Increasingly, the lash mistress stands back, giving advice, encouragement, stern direction, while the pleasure-slave-to-be is introduce to kissing and fondling by a male. The girl is teased along into more and more intimate sexual play with her male trainer and, almost before she knows it, she will experience brolling and repeated slave orgasm that will soon reduce her to whimpering passiviity. A slave might be forced to this point more quickly by other means, at the risk of trauma. She has instead reached it quietly, by means of a thousand tiny surrenders coaxed from her by skilled trainers under the influence of passion nectar.

Such slow and careful training is expensive, but her selling price will more than make it worthwhile to the training school.

Once the slave has experienced brolling by a man, the lash mistress moves on to another trainee and her pupil is turned over to solely male training. When the serum girl realizes that her former maleness is being disregarded, that a lusty man is treating her as no more than a slut of a slave girl, she is apt to rebel.

An inexperienced trainer might take this reaction too seriously and suppress it cruelly, but the wise trainer will recognize it for merely a challenge from the slave. She wanted him, the trainer, to make her a slut, to totally purge her remaining maleness. Though she may herself actually believe that her defiance is honest, it is only love play, and erotic whimsy is to be encouraged in a silk slave. It is enough for the trainer to keep the girl in discipline and give her a few mild punishments to bring her to obedience. This salves her pride and allows her to yield utterly as a woman, a slave, and a slut.

After such a surrender, a slave is well along in training, but there is more to come. Now is the time for little touches, the learning of technique, of the repertoire of sophisticated acts of sexual play that are most pleasing to men. If she is intended for sale as an expert pleasure slave, the girl will be put through long and exacting paces. If she is to be a slave of a lesser pedigree, her instruction will be pushed along more swiftly. Since the serum girl had been familiar with the love play of pleasure girls before becoming one herself, she is apt to learn very swiftly.

But silk girls are devious creatures. The new pleasure slave may remain secretly defiant. She might believe that she can be secretly strong and take her selfish pleasure in the arms of her masters while yet remaining detached from the reality of her slavery. In her mind she shall be a slave but on the outside, but a free person on the inside. Alas, most girls in training soon learn differently. The fate that her trainers intend for her is ignition, an they know that an ignited slave is a slave and a slut to her very core. Once ignited, not an atom of the craft little slave shall ever be free again.

Few who are not pleasure slaves themselves understand the behavioral transformation wrought by ignition. Training eases a girl farther and farther into an internal acceptance of submissive sex and slavery until suddenly, to her horror, she ignites. If it is true ignition, her innate nature as a slut and slave is suddenly and totally realized. Her need for sex and slavery places her in a grip of steel and slavery is no longer something that she can put on and take off merely to please the demands of a trainer. After ignition, she received no more nectar, but even without it the denial of male domination and frequent brolling becomes an ordeal for her. No longer is her greatest dread the whip; far worse is the fears that she will be thrust aside by a one who has no time for her. Sex and slavery have become her food and drink and without them she starves. Fortunately, few pleasure slaves, once sold to masters, lack either sex or domination.

In closing, let us mention that while most devices of discipline are intended to correct general disobedience, a few of them are crafted to aid a girl in learning difficult lessons. Zhorians especially regard the "slave girl's kiss" as an act of passion that nearly every professionally trained pleasure slave must know. Masters regard it as the penultimate act of submission. Little surprise, then, that serum girls often resist slave-kiss training more furiously than they resist anything else, even brolling. There is a device called the pesgi-tawgar, "kiss-trainer," and, when a girl wears it, acts of teur, as Zhorians refer to oral sex, cannot be refused. Trained in this device, the serum girl is taught to accept the living male scepter into her mouth, humbly and reverentially, and also to endure the taste of balm without spitting or blenching.

Another means to the same end is the device referred to as the hergwd-emeri, the "false scepter."

Sometimes the slave in training must practice upon the device for hours at a time, while a lash-slave observes her performance and rates her. A poor display will earn the slave an appropriate discipline at the end of the day. If skillfully trained, a serum girl soon gives up any resistance to the performance of teur. Indeed, sometimes it is the very girl who had at first acted most digusted who becomes the most eager artist of oral pleasure-giving.

Regardless of whether they learn to perform fellatio easily or with difficulty, most learn to practice superb teur before leaving school. She will please men in the same manner that slave girls had pleased her, back in the days when she was still male and consorting with the collared girls held slave in taverns and pleasure houses.

And how surprised is the typical serum girl slave when she finds that the slave kisses she now gives are as pleasurable as those which she had ever received as a man. How eagerly she waits in her place for a new customer to enter her master's establishment and notice her.
